He was born and raised in Kenya, East Africa (Eldoret Town) in a small slum called kamukunji, and is now traveling all over the world spreading the uplifting message of JESUS CHRIST through his music and Preaching. He has performed and ministered around Seattle, Washington the past year and looks forward to bringing it again. A few of us have been given a great opportunity to use our knowledge and skills and passion for youth and in soccer to embark on an exploratory adventure in Kenya from October 14-24th. 3 of us will be going to support Martin and Jannekah Guya, with their various local outreach ministries. A primary means of connecting will be working with their soccer outreach that is targeted at young men around the city of Eldoret.
The purpose is to use soccer as an effective outreach tool to connect with young men who might otherwise never step into an organized church, community event or even hear about hope and love presented in a way that is relevant to them. Already over 40 guys have enthusiastically committed themselves to take part and more are coming every day! They faithfully show up for practice every evening, rain or shine. They have big plans of expanding this project and with our partnership will get this underway.
The purpose and reason behind soccer (football) is to help teach, coach and just play soccer as well as share with young men and how what has shaped our lives and given us purpose.
Our over-arching goal and mission is not to bring about some sort of social justice or economic enlightening, rather to live and breath amongst the populous and to better understand their goals and desires. We will not turn our backs on the overwhelming poverty but seek to temper our own ideals, prejudices, and stereotypes with the reality of their daily living. We know they will ultimately teach us much more about ourselves then we will impart to them.
